Solution for 3D models not rendering or displaying in Sphere XG

Problem: Navisworks coordination models (and models of similar complexity) sometimes fail to render in the Sphere XG Viewer due to their large size. When this happens, you will see the following error message: Rendering of the 3D Model failed.

Example error message

Workaround: Because hidden elements are excluded when importing 3D models, you can reduce the size of the model to be imported by hiding elements that are not needed:

  1. Hide all elements that are not relevant to your task, then export the model.
NOTE: In Navisworks, you can hide elements by right-clicking them in the project tree and selecting Hide.

  2. In Sphere XG, click Import 3D data > Upload from your computer.

  3. Select your exported model and upload to Sphere XG.
