Connect to Third-party Integrations (beta)

Learn how you can seamlessly integrate Sphere XG into existing Autodesk and Procore workflows.

Written by Stefanie Zerulla

NOTE: This feature is still in beta state.

It is possible to connect a Sphere XG user account with an Autodesk or Procore account. The benefit of this integration is the seamless integration of Sphere XG into existing workflows. Users can make all task management changes in Autodesk or Procore and view these changes in Sphere XG along with the reality capture.

Integrations are part of the user account settings. They are not tied to the workspace. In other words, if a user is member in two workspaces, they can also use the integrations in both workspaces.

It is also possible to enable projects to use integrations, i.e. you sync a Sphere XG project with an Autodesk or Procore project..

How to Set up the Integration - General Procedure

Prerequisite: The user must have an account in Autodesk or Procore. For Procore an invitation from an administrator is required.

1. The Autodesk or Procore administrator installs the Sphere XG app shown as HoloBuilder app in the Autodesk or Procore apps stores, see links below.

Autodesk

  • Users on Sphere XG EU can only integrate with Autodesk EU companies. To enable this integration, an Autodesk company administrator must install the FARO Sphere XG/HoloBuilder EU app.

  • Users on Sphere XG COM can only integrate with Autodesk COM companies. To enable this integration, an Autodesk company administrator must install the FARO Sphere XG/HoloBuilder COM app.

There is not cross-region support for Autodesk.

Procore

To enable this integration, a Procore administrator must install the Sphere XG/HoloBuilder app.

2. The user establishes a connection between their Sphere XG account and Autodesk or Procore account, see Set up Integration in the User Account below.

3. The user activates the integration to the Sphere XG project, see Connect a Project to an Integration below.

Then, the user can synchronize data between the Sphere XG project and Autodesk or Procore. The synchronization will be visible for all other members who have permissions for this project but only the user who has activated the project integration can synchronize.

Set up Integration in the User Account

Prerequisites: You must have an Autodesk or Procore account and the Autodesk or Procore administrator has installed the required app, see above.

You can connect to Autodesk or Procore in your user account settings, either in the Sphere XG Dashboard or in the Sphere XG Viewer.

1. Click the user icon () on the top right side.
By default, the user icon is a circle with your user initials. You find information on changing the user icon in Public Profile.

2. Select Integration accounts.

3. Click Connect for the integration you want.

4. Follow the instructions on the screen to connect to Autodesk or Procore.

NOTE: If the connection fails, check with your administrator whether all preparatory steps in Autodesk or Procore were made.

You can leave the Integration accounts page by clicking Close in the top left corner.

Connect a Project to an Integration

Prerequisites: You must have an Autodesk or Procore account and the Autodesk or Procore administrator has installed the required app, see above.

1. Go to the Integrations tab of the project page.

2. Enable the switch for the integration you want.

If you are currently not logged in to Autodesk or Procore, you are asked to authenticate and log in before you can use the Sphere XG project with Autodesk or Procore.

3. Select an Autodesk hub or a Procore company.

4. Select the Autodesk or Procore project that you want to enable.

You can also disable a project integration by deactivating the switch for the corresponding integration. Note that you can only re-enable the project integration if you have an integration account.

NOTE: All subsequent users can see the integration, but they cannot change anything regarding the connection.

You can also create annotations in Sphere XG that will be visible in Autodesk or Procore, see Create and Manage Annotations.

NOTICE: If you have at least the project editor role, you can disable the project integration even if you do not have an integration account. This will remove the integration meta data from the project and thus also prevent other members to use Autodesk or Procore with this project.

Troubleshooting

I'm connected to Autodesk or Procore, but I don't see my company.

  • Did the administrator install the correct Sphere XG/HoloBuilder app?

  • For Autodesk:

    • Did the company administrator install the app that is appropriate for your region, i.e. EU or COM?

    • Does the region of my Autodesk company correspond to my Sphere XG region?

I'm connected to Autodeskor Procore, but I don't see my Autodesk/Procore resources.

  • Do you have the required permissions to access these resources?

  • If your colleagues have the same issue - did the administrator install the appropriate app for your region?
