General

The company category templates are customized templates you can create to build yourself a set of categories which can be applied when creating new projects. The sets can be combined to flexibly cover multiple use cases at once.

Please note that as this is a template builder, once a template has been used, any future changes to the template will not be applied to the category sets within a project. Category sets in a project need to be edited manually within the corresponding project properties.

To access the category template builder for your company, log in to your Enterprise Dashboard. Under Settings in the left-hand side panel, select the tab “Categories”.

Template Builder

With the template builder in your company dashboard, you can create new, manage existing or remove old category templates for your company projects.

Categories template in HoloBuilder

Create a new template

In the Categories tab in the Enterprise Dashboard, click on the “New Template” button in the upper right corner.

In the modal that opens, enter a title and add your categories. Multiple categories can be added at once in the text field below when separated by a comma. Click “Create” to save the template with the categories.

Edit a category

Expand a template with the arrow to the left of the template name, to edit a category within.
Hover over the category name and click the little pen icon appearing next to it to open the edit mode. Enter a new name and save.

Please note that these changes will not be applied to category sets already used in a project.

Add more categories

To add more categories to an existing template, click on the +-button on the right side of a category template list entry.
Enter the category names separated by a comma in the large text field. Save your changes.

Please note that these changes will not be applied to category sets already used in a project.

Remove the template

To remove a category template completely from your Enterprise Dashboard, click on the trash icon on the right side of a category template list entry.

Please note that removing a category template from the list of available templates will not remove the category set from a project where the template was used.

Add a categories template to a project

Category templates can only be applied to new projects during the project creation process in the Enterprise Dashboard. Learn more about creating a new project here.

To add a category template to your project:

  1. Navigate to the bottom of the project creation screen.

  2. Choose a template by name from the drop-down list or start typing to search for a template by name.

  3. Select a template.

  4. Create the project.

Apply multiple templates

To better manage your category packages more dynamically, you can add multiple templates at once. In the project creation screen, open the drop-down menu again or search for another template name by starting typing. Select another category template. Repeat the process as often as you like.

Remove or replace a category template of a project

During the project creation, you can remove and replace a category template with the little x next to the template name. After creating the project this is not possible anymore.

Please note that once a project was created, an applied category template cannot be removed or replaced as a whole anymore. Categories can only be removed individually within the project. To remove categories in an existing project, open the project in the web editor and open the Project. Switch to the Categories tab. Here you can manage your categories individually for this specific project. Learn more.

Using the categories templates

Applied category templates can be used directly within the web editor as well as the JobWalk app with the selected project to tag your content:

  • Web Editor: All categories of the added template(s) are now listed in your scene and project properties to manage and apply. Learn more about how to use categories in the web editor with this Help Center article. Once your project is tagged, you can also apply filters within the web editor.

  • JobWalk app: All categories of the added template(s) are directly available for tagging while capturing your progress. Learn more about how to use categories in the JobWalk app with the linked guide.

  • Once your project is tagged, you can also apply filters within the web editor. Learn more about using filters in the web editor with this article.

  • Player View: Once the categories have been used on the project content, the project can also be filtered accordingly in the web viewer.
